Open mic…
A couple of weeks ago I got to listen to my friend’s band perform an open mic at a cute local bar, Cowboy Surfer. He happens to be my current manager as well. But, to be honest, we’ve worked together on and off for twenty years, so the term boss is a used pretty loosely, lol.
Janky Jones is the band’s name and includes another coworker, Daniel, and a local producer I’ve worked a ton with, Joey. They were pretty great! They underrated their performance but I really enjoyed their hour on stage.
At some point soon, once Scott settles on the venue, I’ll do a serious performance shoot. This night was just kind of a practice run and see what it’s like to move around for angles in the Cowboy Surfer’s space, just in case he settles on them for the shoot.
Before I head off for Seattle, we’ll planning on doing a full band photo shoot for web and promotional stuff. Concepts are still being bounced around, but I’ve already drawn the line at the typical group shot with everyone trying to look cooler than they are in real life, lol. Not being able to see them play more and evolve is one of the things I’ll really miss. I love seeing my friends be passionate about their creative interests. At least I’ll be able to get their LP when it’s released 🎉
