Houston Methodist: The Unit - Transplant
My Role: Narrative, Editing, Graphics, Audio Mix, Color Grade
One of the early releases in an organic video series designed to tell stories of patient care from the viewpoint of hospital staff, those most closely engaged with the patients. Our production team followed a select group of nurses to capture their experience, finding impactful stories that could be expanded on. The editing challenge in this case was to build a story from hours of b-roll and on-site interviews, scripting on the timeline, then using that base narrative to drive a formal studio interview. Along with the director, I sat in on the interview to give input on questions, expand narrative ideas and ask follow-up questions. From there I took all the parts and finalized a full story, collaborating with the director and social manager throughout the approval process. Once picture-locked, I completed the minimal graphics, audio mix and color grade.
Overall, the series wasn’t exactly a huge YouTube hit but it is certainly among the more creative and narratively driven projects I worked on while at the hospital.
