Houston Methodist: Introduction to Alexa & iPad Services
My Role: Edit, Design, Animation, Audio Mix, Color Grade
At the time of this video, patient communication wasn’t something the video team was tasked with. As budgets tightened and desires to streamline processes grew, this type of project became more regular. This introduction video for in-room viewing was one of the first. The challenge was to introduce a service that hasn’t yet been fully built, working with IT to essentially guess what the final UX design would be. We were close.
Working from a scripted VO, I was tasked to edit, design and animate the loose instructions on the service and how to use it. The greatest challenge really was the number of chefs involved in the approval process and working to negotiate all the different perspectives on the look & feel, trying to keep it from pushing the “design by committee” feel.
Interesting Thingy: The voice-over is performed by the video team’s manager at the time, who we jokingly called “The Voice of Houston Methodist” as he was the go to when budgets didn’t allow an outside VO. If you charted all the videos he has done, you would see just how many zero budget projects have been produced.
